Testimony From Randy Freel

wwp2 026.jpg Randy Freel served in Iraq for one year and returned home last month. We asked him to share some thoughts with us concerning this past year.

I would like to thank everyone for all their prayers because without them I am not sure I would have been safe. Our mission was one of the most dangerous— to escort people throughout the country. During our time there our unit was in a lot of danger, and we were hit many times. People thought we were lucky. I think luck had nothing to do with it. It was your prayers and the prayers of other churches of men in our unit that kept us safe. It felt as if the prayers were a shield around us that protected us.

There were times before I would go out on missions that I would pray for safety and I would have to rely on my faith in Christ alone. It is difficult to put into words, but you couldn’t see your enemy as you drove down the road and yet you knew you could be gone in a instant
from an IED (roadside bombs).

The phrases of Scripture that kept coming to my mind were “O ye of little faith…” or “if you have faith and do not doubt.” When you find yourselves in situations that are out of your control, you have to rely on your faith and put it in God’s hands and truly believe it will be taken care of. You just have to have faith. Many times my faith was all I could hang on to.

This Thanksgiving is especially meaningful in my life, as I had prayed to be returned safely home to my family and God answered that prayer. But I have also learned that whatever our situation, we can find something to be thankful for.

Again, thank you for your prayers and making me feel welcome as I returned.
