If you have been around The Creek very long you will know that our heartbeat is helping people to know and love God and to make Him known. Check out the ministries that help make that happen
ACTS 2:42
Community Groups are the basic units for Christian fellowship, connection, care, and discipleship at The Creek. In keeping with the pattern of the early church, these groups meet in homes, and they serve as a complement to our corporate worship on Sundays through sermon-based discipleship and prayer. Our desire is to see people deepen their love for God as they develop authentic, love-driven relationships with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. ADULT MINISTRIES
The Creek’s Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) are an integral part of life in the Body of Christ at The Creek. While they meet during the Sunday school hour, ABFs are more than ordinary Sunday school classes. During this hour on Sunday mornings, we worship through prayer and teaching, and build community through discussion and fellowship time. We also nurture relationships through outings and meals shared together.
The ABFs are designed to promote discussion-oriented, Biblical teaching and community prayer, and to build inter-generational relationships. Being involved in an ABF provides spiritual oversight for Creekers as well as an opportunity for all guests to be ministered to by our church body.
All guests are welcome to attend any of our five ABF classes. They meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15 am to 10:15am. Send an email to thecity@willowcreekbaptistchurch.com to get connected to a group that fits you.
MODULES
Do you want to know more about the Bible? Are you interested in learning about topics like marriage, apologetics, theology or a myriad of others? At The Creek, we are committed to helping you build your life upon God’s life-changing Word. With this in mind, we have instituted Willow Creek University. It is a mid-week program that explores the Bible and Christianity from various topical points of view. The program meets at the church on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 pm. Running concurrently with the University is a children’s program called AWANA. Full childcare is available for every age. The classes rotate and change every 12 weeks, and sometimes on a 6-week cycle. Check the blog and search modules for a description of the classes that are currently offered, and plan to be challenged in your faith and your walk with God.
STUDENT MINISTRIES
The Willow Creek Student Ministry seeks to help both junior high and high school students to know and love God and to make Him known. We strive to help students grow in their love and knowledge of God by the consistent teaching of truth from His Word. We seek to bring unity to our ministry by meeting weekly and hosting monthly events. We train godly mentors in their lives to bring encouragement and challenge. We desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Des Moines area schools by displaying Christ in our lives. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:15 A.M. and Wednesday nights at 6:45 P.M. Shoot an email to questions@willowcreekbaptistchurch.com for more information.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
At The Creek, the Bible is the foundation and guide for educating our children. We seek to impart the truth of the whole Bible and encourage children to develop a Biblical mindset and a Christian world view.
Willow Creek is committed to helping Creek Kids establish and build relationships with Jesus Christ. To accomplish this goal, Willow Creek has ministries that use age-appropriate teaching, activities, worship, and small groups to help children and students take the next steps in their spiritual journeys.
We want to encourage children to:
- Know who God is
- Recognize their sinful state and respond in repentance and faith in Jesus Christ
- Love God and make Him known
Finally, we seek to help children see the hand of God at work in the world, and to recognize and use their spiritual gifts for the good of the body and the world.
It is our desire to come alongside parents in nurturing the faith of their children. Our responsibility is to model and teach the truth of Jesus Christ in an attitude of prayer.
